EQUALITY! back from Northeast India Tour 

 

We are back from our EQUALITY! Northeast India Tour 2023 in collaboration with Pro Helvetia and our tour manager, host and choreographer Joshua Sailo -who we met in the frame of Swiss Dance Days in early 2022! It turned out to be an expansive journey to three different cities in the Northeast of India- Aizawl, Itanagar, and Shillong- that engaged us physically, emotionally and relationally as we reflected on the topic of equality with fresh perspectives with the people we met along the journey. From day one, our tour was built on passion to connect with young audiences (young not just in age but exposure to arts), and openness to see one another authentically. We were hosting workshops at schools and universities, performing at remarkable venues, e.g. a buddhist monastery and connecting with artists from the region- expanding our vision of EQUALITY! to a new cultural context.

EQUALITY! selected for SALTO! to Sweden 

 

It has been our dream to bring EQUALITY! to Sweden, back to Benjamin's roots and back to where we started rehearsing the piece at a residency at Danscentrum Syd back in 2020. Now that we have been selected with 14 other companies to present our piece in February to be part of the festival SALTO! the dream seems to come closer! With the support of Pro Helvetia we will be travelling to Hässleholm to the South of Sweden where invited companies from Sweden and abroad will showcase excerpts of their work to a professional audience. SALTO! is one of the biggest young audience dance festival in Europe. Planned tours are in the autumn 2024 between September and November, depending where we get selected from the presentation day in February 2024.
